Two cities and three municipalities have joined their forces for the purpose of public waterborne transport on the Danube.
The association of communities Prodanubia has been established in 2015 by the city of Šamorín, Bratislava Borough of Čunovo, and municipalities of Hamuliakovo, Vojka nad Dunajom and Kyselica.
Prodanubia aims to find solutions of waterborne public transport alternatives using the inland Danube waterway. There are in average 20.000 vehicles travelling daily between Šamorín and Bratislava during workdays, causing extensive traffic congestion and 2-3-hour delays for employees and children attending school. A regular waterborne public transport represents a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to mitigate this critical road transport situation.
6000 citizens
would use a regular waterborne transport daily to attend school or work
1500 cars
would disappear from the roads to/from Bratislava
